thanks Tracy, I particularly liked the woman making sure she had “honey and milk and vitamin pills” – deftly placing class and motherhood smack into the middle of her story-within-a-story… also, loved “this boy, who fell into the fist of adolescence” … great characterization of the father/daughter relationship… an entire novel in perhaps 2500 words?
and though I’m a bit of a broken record, her writing while careful and well-crafted, isn’t precious like A.M.’s rather static, “world’s greatest short story writer” stuff that leaves me cold…
